As the colors and great rides of autumn await, SLCBAC looks forward to closing out the riding season on a high note. Along with many completed projects this past year, more communities are thinking about upgrades to their streets and public areas that will benefit biking and walking. One of these communities happens to be the city of Riverton which is currently conducting a poll to gauge public demand for Active Transportation resources. If you live in or ride around Riverton, please take a few minutes to fill out their survey. The link is here: www.surveymonkey.com/r/RivertonWalkBike, or it can be found by going to Riverton City’s webpage at www.rivertoncity.com.
If you missed our meetings, you can always catch up on our website at www.slco.org/bicycle where we post transcripts of all he meeting minutes. As a volunteer committee under the office of the County Mayor, we are required to maintain transparency throughout all of our actions and expenditures. This record is not only a great way to adhere to this policy, but it also can be used to track our efforts to improve cycling throughout Salt Lake County.
The committee is still looking to replace three members by the end of the year. If you are interested or know someone who would make a great volunteer, please visit our webpage for links to the County volunteer application. Applicants must have a passion for bicycles, a love of their community and a vision of what they would like to see happen to move Salt Lake County and the state of Utah up the charts for bicycle friendly places in the country!
