image001 3238 June 14, 2016 – Salt Lake City is looking for volunteers to help count bicycles on the 9-Line Trail, a paved pathway in south central Salt Lake City. We received this request from the Transportation Division:

Volunteer Opportunity – 9 Line Trail Surveying

Salt Lake City is doing an in-person survey on 900 South to understand how people use the street and how an extension of the 9 Line trail can best serve people walking and bicycling, of all ages and abilities, across the City. This survey will help develop designs for the trail extension, which will go from the Surplus Canal on the west side to Emigration Canyon on the east bench.

Volunteers will be assigned a location and time along the corridor, on either Thursday, June 23 or Saturday, June 25. Over the course of 2 hours, volunteers will take photos of their location, count the number and types of people walking and bicycling, and, for passers-by who are willing to answer a few questions, volunteers will ask a short series of six questions to get more detailed feedback.

We are looking for 12 people to help out at each of the following three times:

Thursday, June 23 from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Thursday, June 23 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Saturday, June 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

There will be a 30-minute information session for volunteers on:

Wednesday, June 22 from 5:30 to 6:00 pm at the SLC Transportation Division, 349 South 200 East, Suite 150

We will hand out packets in person, provide a short briefing, and answer any questions

Refreshments will be provided
