October 28, 2015 – Bountiful, Utah residents packed the City Council chambers yesterday to give public comment on a proposed land swap of 160 acres of land with the US Forest Service in Bountiful. (See https://www.cyclingwest.com/?p=7202 for details and background).
According to resident Taylor Felt, “99.9%” of the comments were against the land swap. The developer did speak for it. There was approximately 2.5 hours of public comment over the 3-plus hour meeting. The council put off making a recommendation on the swap until their November 17, 2015 meeting.
Interestingly, according to the Salt Lake Ranger District Special Users Permit Manager, no proposal has come through their office on the proposed land exchange. Additionally, if there were such a proposal, it would take several years to complete at best, and would have to go through a long process, and be approved by Congress.
Comments can be submitted to the Bountiful City Council and Mayor here before the November 17, 2015 meeting.
