“Pedal-Driven: a bike-umentary”
United by the mission to create a more enjoyable, more sustainable world, the Northwest Emmynominated documentary film making team at Howell at the Moon Productions has joined forces with IMBA to create “Pedal-Driven: a bike-umentary”.
It has been quite a ride, and Cutthroat Racing would like to invite you to join us for a screening of “Pedal-Driven: a bike-umentary”. PEDAL- DRIVEN will be playing at Brewvies Cinema Pub on Sunday evening, May 20th at 7:00 p.m. For more than two years, the filmmaking team at Howell at the Moon traveled across the western United States, compelled to tell a story of clandestine groups of rogue mountain bikers who build illegal trails on America’s public lands. Promises were made to keep locations secret, breathtaking footage of extraordinary riders was captured, interviews were conducted with both sides of the conflict, battle lines were drawn, illegal trails were ripped out, existing trails were shut down. Then, somewhere along the way something shifted: both sides came to the table, partnerships were forged, agreements were signed.
This engaging and powerful new documentary film is designed to advance the national discussion around where mountain biking belongs in the American landscape. PEDAL-DRIVEN expertly explores the long-standing conflicts between riders and the federal agencies charged with managing our public lands, as this exploding sport makes its way out of the woods and into the public eye. PEDAL-DRIVEN is much more than a bike movie. It is a film about every American’s right to the lands that belong to all of us. As Woody Guthrie famously sang 70 years ago, “This land is your land, this land is my land,” and in that spirit this film was created as a non-profit, from which all proceeds will benefit sustainable trail-building on public lands in the Pacific Northwest. The hope is to inspire and engage Americans in a dialogue about where mountain biking and other sports belong on the American landscape.
The film was created in affiliation with IMBA and with the cooperation of the US Forest Service, and major funding was provided by Shimano, Specialized, Clif Bar, Diamondback, Yakima Racks, Pyramid Brewing Company, City of Leavenworth, Timberland, and Steven’s Pass Bike Park, with promotional support from Pinkbike.com. Local sponsors include Brewvies Cinema Pub, Uinta Brewing Company and Wasatch Crest Shuttle.
