Free Bike Ride for Opening of Mountain View Corridor – Saturday, October 13, 2012

Bike Lane in Mountain View Corridor - DaybreakThe Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) invites the bicycling community to celebrate the opening of the next portion of the Mountain View Corridor. The celebration includes a ribbon cutting, bikes rides from one to twenty miles in length, and a kid’s Costume Bike Parade.

On October 13, UDOT will open an additional seven miles to make a total of nine miles of new roadway, bike lanes and trails from Porter Rockwell Blvd. at 16000 South to Old Bingham Highway. The remainder of MVC will open later in 2012.

Earlier this year, UDOT opened a two-mile section of the Mountain View Corridor (MVC) from 14400 South to 12600 South.

Event Information:

  • Date: Saturday, October 13
  • Time: 10 a.m. Ribbon Cutting followed by a 20, five and one mile Bike Ride.
  • 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Food and activities in the parking lot of the University of Utah Health Center, courtesy of Live Daybreak, South Jordan City, University of Utah Health Center and Rio Tinto.
  • 3 p.m. Road opens to traffic.
  • Location: Mountain View Corridor near University of Utah Health Center (5126 W. Daybreak Parkway).
