
June 2, 2015 – GreenBike, Salt Lake City’s bike share program, today announced five new stations and 55 new bikes. The program, launched in April 2013, now has 25 stations and 210 bikes. Additionally, four existing stations were expanded to hold more bikes.
The new stations are up and running and are located in the following places: 300 S. and 300 W. near Pioneer Park, 300 S. and 500 E. by Dick and Dixie’s, 200 S. and 200 E. on the northeast corner, 450 W. and 100 S. in the middle of the Gateway, and 100 S. and 500 E.
The expanded stations are Harmon’s on 100 S. and State Street, The Salt Palace at 200 S. and W. Temple, the Phillips Edison and Company Station at 353 S. Main St., and the Union Pacific Depot Station at 360 W. and 200 S.
GreenBike has been a very successful bike share program. In 2014, 46264 trips were taken, equivalent to 103,224 vehicle miles not traveled and 130,000 lbs of carbon dioxide.

This year’s expansion cost $326,000 which included $176,000 from the Wasatch Front Regional Council (the local Metropolitan Planning Organization), $75,000 from the Salt Lake City Redevelopment Agency, and $75,000 from the Salt Lake City Council.
In addition to the expansion of stations and bikes, GreenBike launched an Office Pass program, where local businesses can purchase memberships for their employees for as little as $25/person/year.
Greenbike memberships are $5/24 hours or $75/year and include an unlimited number of 30 minute rides in the downtown area.
