Chevy Truck takes over NCS series

Colorado Springs, Colo. - The National Off-Road Bicycle Association (NORBA) announces the 1998 schedule for the Chevy Truck National Championship Series. The Chevy Truck National Championship Series (NCS). the premier mountain bike racing series in the United States, will consist of seven events in 1998, including seven Chevy Truck cross-country races, six VISA Downhill races, six NORBA Dual Slalom races and six NORBA Observed Trials competitions.

Kicking off May 14-17 at Snow Summit Resort in the town of Big Bear Lake, California, the 1998 series will feature the diverse terrain of different regions across the U.S. Highlights of the 1998 schedule include NCS Finals at Mount Snow, Vt., August 20-23, and an undisclosed new venue in Colorado scheduled to host round six, July 30-August 2.

After a four-week break, the series kicks into high gear with consecutive races, starting at Mammoth Mountain, Calif., a legendary site in mountain bike racing that will enter its 12th straight year of hosting top national or international competition.

Following Mammoth is Deer Valley, Utah, site of the 1997 NCS Finals, and then round six in Colorado. The series wraps up with the 1998 Chevy Truck NCS Finals, August 22-23, at Mount Snow.

With more than 34,000 annual members, NORBA will sanction over 1,000 races in 1997. The Chevy Truck NCS will award national titles in mountain biking's four disciplines: cross-country, downhill, dual slalom and observed trials. More than 12,000 riders are expected to compete in 1997.
