LAS VEGAS, Nevada (May 4, 2024) — The L’Étape Las Vegas, a Tour de France auxiliary event, was cancelled due to high winds that were above the threshold for a safe event. Statement:
Dear L’Étape Las Vegas Cyclist,
We are writing to inform you that L’Étape Las Vegas by Tour de France has been cancelled due to unsafe course conditions caused by high winds.
“We are extremely disappointed to announce the cancellation of L’Étape Las Vegas by Tour de France,” said Las Vegas Events President Tim Keener. “We have been in consultation with local officials and followed the models presented by the National Weather Service as of 5 p.m. today. Due to the forecasted high winds above the allowable thresholds, we had no choice but to cancel the event for the safety of the riders, staff, volunteers and vendors.”
We appreciate you choosing L’Étape Las Vegas and hope to see you back with us in 2025.
All riders will be deferred to 2025. More information on the next steps will be provided in the following weeks. The event date is set for Sunday, May 4, 2025.
