June 15, 2016 – UPDATE: Cycling Utah received information today that the Fire Road Cedar City will not be held in 2016, and has been rescheduled tentatively for August 26, 2017. Instead, two informal rides will be held on the course on June 25, 2016 at 8 am, and on August 27, 2016. The rides are not organized and not timed, but just a tour of the course.
The following statement was issued by Cedar City:
CEDAR CITY, UT (June 14, 2016)–Due to circumstances beyond the control of the event organizers, it was announced today by Rapid Cycling Racing that the Fire Road 2016 has been rescheduled to next year.
The 100k, 60k, and 25k mountain biking event was slated for Saturday, June 25. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, the new race organizers decided they would be unable to produce what would’ve been the 6th annual event.
A group of Cedar City mountain biking enthusiasts has offered to host an informal “tour” of the course on June 25 at 8 a.m., and will meet at Main Street Park. They will also be working with the original founders of the event to produce the next Fire Road race tentatively scheduled for August 26, 2017.
The spectacular Fire Road course takes mountain bikers on roads and trails up on Cedar Mountain, around Kolob Reservoir, and starting and ending in Main Street Park in Cedar City.

The new race organizers are not involved with Rapid Cycling Racing, and are looking to keep the event going in Cedar CIty.

June 13, 2016 – The Fire Road Cedar City, a gravel grinder race, will not be held on its original date of June 25, 2016. According to Rapid Cycling Racing’s Jordan Bracken, the event won’t be held in June due to circumstances beyond their control.
The event is being postponed until August 27, 2016 in Cedar City. Event organizer Shay Asay relayed that, “We’re excited to keep the event growing and build on the good reputation that it already has!”
