KPCW Launches New Cycling Festival

July 3, 2012 – Park City, UT:  KPCW FM, Park City’s “Community Voice” announces sponsorship of a new cycling festival in Park City. Fat tire, skinny tire and training wheels; all genres of cycling will come together to celebrate the love of biking. This family friendly event will make its debut July 28th at The Yard @ Bonanza Park. The Tour de Park City will host the road biking aspects of the event, while Cole Sport, Jans Mountain Outfitters and White Pine Touring will host mountain bike rides, clinics and educational seminars.

The KPCW Cycling Festival is a day filled with biking, bands, beverages and buddies. Dying to test your abilities in a timed event? Here’s your chance. Need to work on your switchback handling? Take a clinic. Want to show them whose king or queen of the mountain? Pedal your way to the top. Yearning to take the family for a leisurely ride everyone can enjoy?  Bring ‘em on down! The festival will have something for everyone; you can even bring your cruiser and just listen to the music.

The Tour de Park City is a key part of the KPCW Cycling Festival. The Tour is a fully supported cycling event for riders of all ages and abilities. All entrants are timed and ranked according to age group, prizes will be awarded to the top 3, all riders will receive medals and goody bags.  Super Fondo that will quite literally take your breath away with over 10,500 feet over Mirror Lake Highway, Grand Fondo (100 miles), Medio Fondo (50 miles) and Piccolo Fondo (15 miles) courses have been designed to showcase some of the best road riding in the area. In addition a USAC sanctioned Classic Road Race has been added. This 157 mile, two-state course takes you to Evanston, Wyoming via Chalk Creek and then 10,500 feet over the Mirror Lake Highway in Utah’s scenic Uintah Mountains. Big climbs, scenic flats and fast descents make this the “toughest one day race in America”.

The festival will take place July 28th from 7:00 AM till 8:00 PM and will feature live bands, special activities for novice riders, bike clinics, an equipment exposition area, food and beverages and fun for the whole family.
