The Mirror Lake Highway (SR 150) from Kamas, Utah to Evanston, Wyoming opened to bicycle and car traffic on Friday, May 24, 2013. The highway opened earlier than usual this year following a light snow year. According to the Heber-Kamas Ranger District, Yellow Pine, Cobblerest, Lower Provo, Shady Dell, Soapstone, Ledgefork, and Smith and Morehouse campgrounds are all open within the district (not all of these are on the Mirror Lake Highway). The out and back bike ride from Kamas to Bald Mountain Pass and back is a beautiful ride, and travels approximately 30 miles each way and gains 4229 feet.
